This was another early Cell Wall Transport Puzzle. I made a first version of the puzzle which, unfortunately, had a lot of various solutions. In order to eliminate the offending transports, I built more paths around the edges of the puzzle, and the result was gigantic. (To give you an idea, I normally create these puzzles on 4 grid lines per inch graph paper. For this second version, I used 10 grid lines per inch, and it barely fit.) When I started publishing these puzzles in the magazine, I knew that this puzzle was simply too big (and the long, roundabout paths were pretty uninteresting). So I mapped out the pathways, then essentially turned the puzzle inside-out. The final symport into the last room on the right used to be in the dead center of the puzzle. Transforming the puzzle was just as complicated as it sounds. The final version printed here is topologically identical to the huge version, but much simplified. However, the long stretch of symports on the left and top is evidence of this transformation.
